The Muppets had a very twisted and occasionally adult sense of humor (after all, the original title of "The Muppet Show" was "Sex and Violence!"). One of the oddest songs from the show had to be this number which tells of hillbilly inbreeding, performed by the show's resident jug-band, The Gogolala Jug-Band. See if you can keep up with the genealogy!Tuesday, January 16, 2007

They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Ha!!
I woke up with this song stuck in my head this morning -- hope that's not a comment on how 2007's gonna go. Of all of the records I've ever owned, this one was one of the coolest. It was an orange label 45 with the song on side A... and a reversed label and backwards version of the song on Side B. Wish it hadn't gotten broken. Anywho... here's "They're Coming to Take Me Away!"

When I Was on Top of You!
If you're a "South Park" junkie, then you're probably already familiar with CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL, but if not, here's the backstory... Before heading off to LA, Matt Stone and Trey Parker decided that they needed to arrive with a finished movie in hand, so they made a fantastic little movie that was based on Alfred Packer, a miner who was accused of cannibalism. They somehow managed to put out of a film that looks like it had a decent sized budget, which is also funny (without being as outrageous as the title suggests) and has a bunch of memorable musical highlights. I'm not particularly a "South Park" fan, but I adore CANNIBAL."When I Was On Top Of You" is a song that Trey Parker performs as Packer, which is an innuendo-filled ode to his horse, Leann... the name of Parker's ex. You can get all of the songs at Azaroth's blog or at Cannibal the Musical.net.
